Zen Agency

New Play

You might be excited to know that my new play “Zen Agency” is available now from Lazy Bee Scripts.

This is my 39th or 40th play (who’s counting?) and my 7th full length play published by Lazy Bee.

“Ageing has been difficult for Viv.  When she answers a postcard advertisement in a newsagent's window for the Zen Agency she hopes it may help her relive some of the excitement of her student days in the 1970s.  The play revolves around her meeting with Sebastian, the founder of Zen Agency with whom she begins a round of largely ineffective Political Protests.  Things are complicated by Viv's caring neighbours Dawn, who runs a company called Dawn's Wellness Glow and her husband Martin, a viola playing teacher at the local Adult Education College.  Dawn and Martin are worried about Dawn's relationship with the Millennial Sebastian and things come to a head when they learn that the Zen Agency is planning to disrupt a concert that Martin is to play in.  In the end Dawn finds a solution that satisfies all their aspirations. The thoughtful tone of the play is lightened by Viv's acerbic wit and her often comic dealings with her too-caring neighbours.”

Should you or your group wish to perform “Zen Agency”, rights and licences are available from Lazy Bee.  However, you can read it on line here:  https://www.lazybeescripts.co.uk/Scripts/Results.aspx?iSc=3829

My thanks to Julia Stringer and Kasper Faulkner Lewis who performed an early version of Scene 1 at Doppelganger Dialogues at Chaplins last year.
